Rose Frimpong (she/they)
Rose is ½ of Two Twos Podcast, founder of the Black LGBTQIA+ Therapy Fund as well as a Skincare enthusiast. Rose is an unapologetic person, generous and all round community leader and it shows in the work she does. She is passionate about giving to her community and having systems in place to make life easier for members of her community.
Rose started the black LGBTQIA+ Fund during the first lockdown to fund from 12 weeks of therapy for black queer people, it was a huge success and Rose raised almost £90k and is now doing the work. She was motivated to start the fund by her own struggles with depression and anxiety. A lot of her depressions and anxieties were centered around her sexuality and how she presented in society. A lot of her issues are what a lot of black queer people have growing up in traditional households or having religious backgrounds like she does. Rose sought help via the NHS and was given a hetero white therapist to do CBT and felt it wasnt helping her so did not finish the course of therapy. She also found private therapy was too expensive so felt stuck. Rose started this as a solution for other black queer people who have the same barriers she did. She is passionate about making therapy more accessible for black queer people, and as well as funding therapy is planning on doing much much more.
Rose has written an article for British Vogue, been featured in Refinery 29, Bustle plus much more. She has also sat panels for Pink News, Universal Music and other big corporations to speak about mental health in the black queer community. In addition to this she has also featured on Outvertising Podcast to speak about the community work she does.
Rose launched Two Twos Podcast with her best friend in September 2019 and has been going from strength to strength. Two Twos Podcast has been nominated for a DIVA Award, featured in Stylist Magazine, AZ Mag, Buzzfeed, named in GUAP Mags 2020 30 under 30’s content creators and also was able to collab with RCA Records to take over their instagram page for a day which was a huge success. Two Twos Podcast has also been spotlighted by Spotify on numerous occasions including being added to top UK podcast for the week.
Sage Anifowoshe (they/them)
Social Media Manager
Sage is the Black LGBTQ+ Therapy Fund’s graphic designer and social media manager. They wanted to be a part of an organisation addressing the lack of diversity in mental health care after having various counsellors over the years that never quite helped due to a number of issues such as a lack of cultural awareness, not being able to access long term support or having high costs.
When they’re not creating our colourful content for the therapy fund, you can find them doing community outreach for Black Girls Camping Trip or writing for Inside A Black Girls Mind. Discovering and preserving Black queer history and data is an integral part to Sage’s role, there is an overwhelming lack of resources available to Black queer people as well as representation in the media and they hope they can change that, one graphic at a time.
Remi Oshibanjo (she/her)
Remi Oshibanjo is the Legal and Finance manager at the fund, she joined because she understood the need for robust financial planning in growing businesses in the 'pink' sector and wanted to use her skills to support a business that was supporting the mental health of the Black Queer community. I manage the overall financial planning and processing at the fund, as well as being in charge of funding applications and ad hoc project costing and management. My day job is as a project manager in construction and my hobbies include reading, colouring and recovering from screens.
